‘On The Washing Line’ is an insightful, emotive, and playful experience exploring the journey of the imagination as it evolves from childhood to early adulthood. Visually fantastic and touching, this show employs a range of mediums - including acting, poetry, visual art, projection and shadow puppetry.
The childlike storytelling inspires nostalgic reflection - what is the relationship between happiness and imagination? Have I let the implications of maturity suffocate my ability to play? Is my inner child happy? In the way I lead my life, do I allow my inner child to be seen, to be supported?
‘On The Washing Line’ acts as a connection between the audience and their inner child - catalysing the reignition of imagination, and encouraging the realisation of its place within adult life. Riddled with insight into the process of aging through adolescence as a creative, this work is a visually evocative, lively, comforting and vulnerable exploration of play.
