Never before have we needed the wherewithal to change/save the world; never before have we been so viscerally unable to pull ourselves out of the sludge of our own inertia. Of course, this is by design: there are systems in place that ensure our apathy; that are stealing our time and our will.
This work, in its final form, will be a two hander examining and critiquing the vice grip that social media has on our generation. It will take inspiration from the structures and forms of social media that steal our attention, and keep us from enacting real world change, with vignettes and storylines that flit past, overlap and intermingle.
This piece will be driven by central unanswerable questions (How do we dismantle power? How do we hold our focus?) and will refrain from didacticism. It should be tragicomic and very moving, whilst highlighting that to give birth to the world we want we must look past the screen in our hand.
