DAYDREAMER
Keep dreaming, kid.
Mess
Daydreamer' is a short concept based performance of an in development monodrama displaying interpersonal experiences of AFAB (Assigned Female at Birth) Neurodiverse people. This work focuses on how moments and experiences in the developmental years of youth impacts the sense of self and confidence in regards to peoples condition, known or not.
The piece includes verbatim elements in creation and performance, taking into consideration the shared experiences of others. Much of people's understanding of neurodiverse conditions, such as adhd and autism is built on a male orientated criteria that has harmed the understanding of these conditions in girls and women. And this goes beyond medical diagnoses into societal ideas, from both others and the people with these conditions, many of which are underdiagnosed and spend many years misunderstanding themselves.
We share our experiences with you, and hope for greater understanding in return. Finally, beyond neurodiversity, let kids be kids.
